The Artist Participants in the LeQuire Gallery Invitational
June 10th - August 19th
| Artists chosen for the 2006 Invitational include Kelly Williams, Todd Gordon, Julia Martin, David Guidera, and Art Polendo. John Reed states that each of these artists “makes bold personal statements with their work” and that “each brings a unique and personal interpretation to modern themes of art genre placing them directly in the work through paint application, selection of imagery or aesthetic doctrine”.
Kelly Williams attended the Yale University Summer School for Art and Music, received a B.A. degree with Honors in Studio Art from Vassar College and received her masters from the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently instructing painting and drawing at the Art Institute. In 2004, she received the Terra Foundation for the Arts Fellowship offered to only two visual artists from the U.S. and Europe to study in Giverny, France. |

| During the past year, Todd Gordon has been working on a series of plein air paintings of neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn. Gordon discusses the different sites of this series as “seemingly mundane regions of New York City [that] reflect both the vibrant activity of daily life and the inevitability of urban entropy.” Working only through the process of direct observation, Gordon says he “completed these paintings on-site over the course of several weeks or, in some cases, months.” Todd Gordon was born in Atlanta, GA, raised in Ohio, and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. He received his B.A. in Art History at Northwestern University, studied at the Art Institute in Chicago, and Florence, Italy. |
