LeQuire Gallery New Figurative Artists
 September 9th - October 28th

In April 2004, Alan LeQuire opened LeQuire Gallery to support the movement of a group of contemporary artists who refer to themselves as New Figurative Artists. These artists reject the current notions of 'avant-garde' in favor of the traditional arts of painting and sculpture. They are familiar with the theories and techniques of the past and are extending that tradition to create new contemporary work.

The third annual LeQuire Gallery New Figurative Artists exhibit continues through October 28th. Artists included are Juliette Artistides, Ron A. Cheek, Lou Copeland, Alan LeQuire, Jammie Williams, Kelly Williams and Brody Vincent.

Although the exhibit includes sculpture and paintings, there is a significant emphasis on drawings this year with the release of Juliette Aristides' new book Classical Drawing Atelier. The book is now on view at LeQuire Gallery and will be available to purchase at LeQuire Gallery in November. Amazon.com is taking pre orders at this time. Aristides lives in Seattle, Washington.

Along with Aristides, Ft. Worth resident Ron A. Cheek and Kentucky native, Brody Vincent exhibit with us for the second time. Kelly Williams adds her figurative work after exhibiting abstract landscapes with us over the summer. Lou Copeland and Alan LeQuire's apprentice, Jammie Williams join us for their first showing at LeQuire Gallery.

Known primarily for his sculpture, Alan LeQuire will exhibit drawings and watercolors as well. Some of his drawings are significant in that they are studies for bronze sculptures.

The gallery is located near Sylvan Park at 4304 Charlotte Avenue. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00pm. For more information call (615) 298-4611.
