The Figure from Life

Learn anatomy and proportion while creating a 1/3rd life-size portrait figure. The workshop will also teach armature construction and the use of plastiline clay. All materials will be provided.

Drawing & Painting the Figure with Murat Kaboulov

Paint and draw the figure using charcoal, pastel and oil. Renowned portrait artist, Murat Kaboulov will teach using a different medium each Saturday. Students are expected to bring supplies.

Murat Kaboulov
In St. Petersburg Murat Kaboulov entered the art college named for V. Serov. He studied painting there for five years and after graduating, passed the entrance exams to one of the country's leading art schools - The Academy of Art in St. Petersburg. His teacher was Professor Evsey Moeseyenko, one of the most famous representatives of "social realism" (Russian Impressionism).

Murat is an expert on figure drawing and portraiture in oil. He is a member of the Portrait Society of America as well as the Union of Artists of Russia with whom he regularly exhibits. His works can be found in many art museums throughout Russia and private collections around the world.

Alan LeQuire
Alan LeQuire is one of the nation's premier sculptors. His works adorn the walls of institutions like Vanderbilt University, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. His monumental works like Musica, and Athena Parthenos, enrich the visual landscape of Nashville.

Musica, standing 40-feet tall is the largest bronze figure group in the United States. Positioned at the entrance of the famed Music Row, Musica is a vibrant tribute to Nashville's creative community.

LeQuire's recreation of Athena Parthenos is the western world's largest indoor statue. Athena is housed in the world's only full-size replica of the Parthenon.

Alan has been teaching sculpting since 1984.

Jonathan Bowers
 Jonathan excels at figure drawing having studied with Jacob Collins at New York's Water Street Atelier. In the field of contemporary realism, Collins is an extraordinarily respected artist and teacher whose fresh perspective and influence carries on through the masterful work and instruction of Jonathan Bowers.
